International Perspective
An International perspective for the children will not only include International or UN Days but a weekly Global Studies lesson where the children will learn at an age appropriate level about world events and countries.
Each child’s country will be included into class lessons, whether it is the child’s birth country, country of nationality or a country of significance to the child. Teachers will work with students and parents in preparing these lessons, as the child will play an integral role in this programme.
Global studies: the contemporary world
Each week students will be engaged in discussion at an age-appropriate level about international, national and local events and happenings.
Creating awareness of environmental, social and political issues, and “what’s happening in the world” is designed to open the children’s minds to a world outside their immediate environment.
Parents will be informed of topics covered so they can initiate discussion at home, sharing their own perspectives and values, and what they wish to emphasise to their children.
Parents and students are encouraged to introduce news items to the class, perhaps focusing on issues relevant to their home country and areas of interest to the family.
