Relocation and Orientation

Students who are prepared for their new school environment, and new home country typically start school with confidence, optimism and enthusiasm. Whilst most schools and relocation companies support the parents, AIS Saigon is committed to supporting the children as well as the parents in their move to Vietnam, and the school.

Our relocation and orientation programme includes:

• e-mail communication with the student from both the child’s teacher and peers as soon as the placement offer is accepted (communication is through the parent’s e-mail address)

• information about Vietnam and the school prepared age appropriately for the student. This includes photographs, information about life for a child in HCMC, and descriptions of peers and teachers.

• Buddies established upon arrival, with the new student and their family informally meeting students in their class with their families, prior to the first day of school.

• Advice for parents on settling a child quickly into their new environment, with assistance prior to arrival.

• A meeting with the teacher during the first month of arrival in HCMC and at the school to allow parents to share their observations with their teacher.

• On-going support for the child and the family, as sought by the parents.
