From the Principal
The Australian writer David Malouf exhorts the learner:
“Here, take a tuning fork, throw it down, and hear the planet hum”
At The Australian International School Saigon we want our students to listen to the world around them, to hear it hum, and to grow into young people who are curious, reflective and who want to make a positive difference to their world.
Central to AIS Saigon is the child. At the core of our work is the child’s learning process and development into a well rounded, confident individual who aspires to his or her potential.
Our curriculum is rigorous and balanced; it supports the individual strengths and talents of our students so that they are excited by learning and embrace challenges with a belief in their own ability.
Children today have a different understanding and perception of the world than we had during our childhood years. Their world reaches far beyond the local community. Through internet, email and other technology, as well as their own travels and intercultural friendships, their world is fast, open and immediate; a place where diversity and difference is the norm and choice and change are aspects of living.
The dynamic nature of society will see our children living adult lives in a vastly different world. Our challenge as educators and parents is to prepare them with appropriate knowledge, attitudes, values and skills to navigate their future.

Our aim at AIS Saigon is to encourage students to:
• think well with flexibility and reflection,
• listen with understanding and empathy,
• communicate with clarity and sensitivity,
• become knowledgeable and compassionate learners striving for excellence and their personal best, and
• develop values that are necessary for a happy and fulfilling life.
AIS Saigon is a school where children are engaged, stimulated and challenged within the safe confines of a warm, supportive and cooperative environment. We are a community where students, staff and parents have a real sense of belonging and connectedness in an international setting. There is a strong academic and social framework so the children share friendships, deep learning and an educational experience that challenges them to extend their individual limits.
For a parent, selecting a school for your child requires careful consideration. It needs to be a school that supports your family’s values and provides what you want for your child. We warmly invite you to contact us to discuss any questions you may have. What is important to you is important to us, as we partner together in educating your child.
