Fieldwork and experiential learning (learning through experience with active involvement and participation) is a fundamental component of teaching at AIS. As part of the School’s academic curriculum, year level camps are planned throughout the year.
These camps encompass skills and knowledge learned throughout the year. They specifically involve high level enquiry, team work, problem solving, individual challenge, evaluation, reflection, leadership, planning and working towards goals. For these reasons the camps are a necessary and compulsory part of the School’s curriculum.
All students from Year 3 to Year 12 attend annual camps and fieldwork is an integral part of each subject. Additional overseas trips are planned each year for interested students.
