As our first group of foundation students move to Year 10 in August 2008, we are delighted to announce the plan for the The AIS-ACG Senior College for students in Years 11 and 12 , to open in August 2009.
Whilst the Secondary school (Year 6 to Year 10) learning foundation is based on the Australian NSW curriculum, which provides a balanced, comprehensive, internationally-recognised curriculum, we will offer the Cambridge International A and AS Curriculum for Years 11 and 12 at the AIS-ACG Senior College.
The Senior College, a first in HCMC amongst the international Schools, will provide academic rigour and support. The teaching approach will intill in the students the need for a self-disciplined, motivated and independent approach to learning as will be required at university.
The AIS-ACG Senior College
Senior students will learn in an environment where they are respected as young adults and are provided with guidance in their final years of school in an open and friendly atmosphere.
Students are only required to be on campus for scheduled lessons. During non-programmed lesson time, students are encouraged to take advantage of the many places available for individual and group study.
Year 12 students are expected to spend at least 4 hours per subject in private study each week, while Year 11 students should spend at least 3 hours per subject each week.
All students should develop and maintain a study schedule that allows them to make the most of the opportunity to perform at their very best in class.
Students are supported in planning their study schedules by their teacher mentors.
Classes are regarded as appointments and as such, students are required to attend all timetabled lessons punctually with the appropriate materials required for each lesson. Attendance requirements must be met.
Senior students are expected to dress in a neat casual manner. There is no school uniform.
The development of respect and a positive learning partnership is integral to our work with senior students.
All our teaching is aimed at providing students with a solid background and skills in their subjects to allow them to be successful with examinations and in the tertiary course of their choice.
Opportunities for leadership and life skills are integral to the Senior College ethos as a part of our commitment to preparing young adults to be independent, self-motivated and self-disciplined individuals ready to embark on their life journey and further study.
