Lenna has a Bachelor of Education and Psychology degree. She began her teaching career in 1988 where she taught for the public school system in Vancouver, Canada. In 1995, Lenna opened an Early Years Centre where she worked until moving to Vietnam in 2014. Lenna was a teacher here at AIS from 2014 to 2017 and re-joined our team in January 2019. While away, Lenna lived and taught in Italy and Germany. Lenna’s greatest desire is to see her students become independent self-led learners, who reach their full potential by being engaged and curious in a safe and exciting environment. Outside of the classroom, Lenna enjoys travelling with her husband, enjoying coffee with friends and reading. She is an avid runner and fuels her passion by running in marathons/half-marathons around the world whenever she can.

Julie joined AIS in 2007 to work in the Early Childhood Department bringing with her 14 years’ experience as a classroom teacher. Prior to joining AIS, Julie was a member of the ‘DYNOTOTS’ pre-school which was situated at the Lotus Campus site back in 1995.
Outside of school, Julie enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, watching movies, playing tennis and travelling.
Julie believes that learning should be fun and interesting. Young learners thrive in a safe and nurturing environment. Providing them a learning space where they feel secure and that encourages exploration, sparks curiosity and motivates resourcefulness and creativity has always been one of my primary goals.

Vicki is from Australia and has lived and worked as a Tuition Teacher and Homeroom teacher in the UAE since 2014. She encourages life-long learning and engages her students to become life-long learners as well. To Vicki, education is about inspiring children to engage fully in their learning within a supportive and caring learning environment.
Cindy Armstrong Qualifications: Diploma of Teaching (Primary) Ballarat College of Advanced Education, (now Federation University), Ballarat, Australia. Bachelor of Education, University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia. Cindy has been teaching Primary School since she graduated in 1987 and has spent most of her time teaching in Australia. Cindy enjoys working with children of all ages but she is particularly looking forward to being with younger children again.
Cindy is very exciting about moving overseas for the first time and is ready to embrace her new world.

Gretchen has taught overseas since graduating in 2013. She first worked in South Korea before moving to Japan to teach for the past four years. Gretchen enjoys working in lower primary classes using music in the classroom.

Oonagh is a 27 year old primary school teacher from Co. Kerry in South West of Ireland. After Oonagh completed her B.ED in Primary education and she began her teaching career working in a local country school as a Year 2 class teacher. She then decided she wanted to work abroad and then spent 4 years working in two different international schools in Dubai as an early years class teacher. It was in Dubai that her passion for early years developed and since then she have never looked back and 5 years later still working in early years. Watching and aiding young children to grow in confidence is something very special and rewarding for me.
Oonagh is very excited about working here at AIS and looks forward to the new challenge and new cultural experience here in Vietnam.
With regards to her personal life, Oonagh loves to travel and has travelled to over 30 different countries in the past 6 years. Oonagh especially loves to explore the outdoors in these countries through hiking, climbing, skiing and various other adventure activities. Last summer she successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for charity during her two month stay as a volunteer in Tanzania.

On her travels Cathy has enjoyed finding out about the history of the places she has lived in as well as having an interest in architecture and photography

Jeremy Maher is an Australian teacher with over ten years’ experience in primary education. Prior to joining the AIS community, Jeremy and his wife taught in Sydney, Melbourne and more recently Hangzhou, China. Jeremy has experience teaching every year level across a range of curriculums. He loves sports, technology and learning new and innovative ways to address curriculum content. Jeremy’s partner is Hannah Maher; a high school English teacher at AIS. His young son has recently started at the Xi campus.

Helen has taught across the primary age range in London schools for almost 30 years before teaching internationally. Helen taught in an international school in Bangkok, Thailand for 4 years and is currently teaching in an English school in Moscow, Russia.

This is Fiona’s second year at AIS. Before arriving in Vietnam, she taught in the beautiful Chinese city of Hangzhou. Previously to this she spent three years at the International Academy of Amman, Jordan. Fiona has spent several years teaching in her home country of New Zealand. She has a passion for Literacy, the Visual Arts/Design and Inquiry. Fiona has been involved in playing and coaching several sports including netball, hockey and tennis. She also loves motivating children to pick up a book and read, to open their minds to possibilities and to encourage them to act in a positive global-minded way.

Ben is joining AIS in August 2015 teaching in year 3. He has been in HCMC since January. Ben has experience teaching in England at Cottesbrooke Junior School and is very excited to start a new position abroad. He has already worked in AIS in a temporary capacity covering classes in Lotus, Xi and Thu Thiem campuses.
In his spare time, Ben loves to play a variety of sports, especially football (soccer) and also loves to travel.

Kevin has more than 20 years of experience as a leader and teacher in a wide variety of schools, both in Australia and internationally. Prior to joining AIS, he spent three years as the grade level leader at a prestigious International school in Sharjah UAE, experiencing Arabic culture first-hand. Kevin has also held a variety of school and curriculum leadership positions. Kevin has a high level of skills in organisation and logistics, which is crucial to the smooth running of a large school. He also has a passion for curriculum and especially for using data to help students achieve their full potential. Kevin is in Vietnam with his wife, Vicki, who is a year 1 teacher at AIS. Kevin is a highly competent musician and enjoys travelling and performing.

Mida Abdul takes on the role of PYP coordinator at Australian International School from January 2017. Although she is new to this role here at AIS, she is not totally new to AIS. She worked at the school in 2013 to 2014, as a Kindergarten teacher at Thu Thiem Campus. Mida has worked and taught in Indonesia, Thailand and Japan, recently having worked and lived in Nagoya, Japan for 2.5 years. Mida has been working with the IB programme since 2001 and she has been working for the IB, providing workshops and trainings for teachers within Asia Pacific region, since 2005. She is also a school visiting team leader and a consultant, who travels to other IB-PYP schools in the region to lead Verification and Evaluation visits. Mida has a daughter in Year 1, named Loulou, who goes to Thu Thiem campus. She is excited to be back in Saigon and to be working with AIS once again.

Jet teaches swimming from Kindergarten, Primary to High School students in all campuses. Prior to joining AIS, Jet has been coaching and managing competitive swimming clubs and organizing summer learn-to-swim programmes in the Philippines. He has also been involved with skills and development activities of the national and international level swimmers of the Philippine’s National Swimming Team. He has been a competitive swimmer since 7 years old and was a member of the National Age-Group Swimming team represented his country in national and international events for 8 years.. Since then, he has focused on full-time coaching and managing swimming clubs. Jet still trains as a competitive athlete in Running, Swimming and Triathlon events. During his free time and holidays he does a lot of board sports like Surfing, Skating and Wakeboarding.

Phuong Le was a teacher at an Elementary school in HCM City for 4 years. She also has 12 years of teaching experience in Early Childhood. She joined AIS in 2007 as a Teaching Assistant. She teaches the Vietnamese National Curriculum to Vietnamese students from Year 1 to Year 6.
She enjoys cooking with her two daughters.

Matthew moved to Asia in 2012 and has spent the past 6 years teaching in Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. In his 4 years in Vietnam, Matthew has taught for international schools, set up a youth theatre which raises money for charity through its' performances, and he was hired to deliver a theatre-in-education tour around local Vietnamese schools.
He is delighted to be joining the AIS community and looks forward to working with the students this year.
