Music

Students at AIS begin their musical journey at an early age, with specialist lessons starting at Kindergarten and continuing up to the IB Diploma, delivering a curriculum focussed on performance, understanding and creative expression.

We provide a progressive performance pathway, beginning with whole-class singing in Kindergarten and expanding through the years to include in-class concerts, assembly performances, recitals, concerts, talent shows and much more. In Primary School and above, students learn on Orff instruments, keyboards, guitars, and ukuleles to support their music development, with increasing access to instrumental lessons as an extracurricular activity. Additionally, students can choose to join one of our performance ensembles, including glee club, concert orchestra or the annual musical stage production.

Across Secondary year groups, pupils can develop their acting, dance performance, and musical theatre skills through their involvement in our annual drama production. Recent performances have included Bugsy Malone, Seussical, and the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Across Primary year groups, students regularly perform at assemblies, and special holiday events such as Tet, Moon Festival, International Day, and Primary Showcase. There are plenty of opportunities to let their talents shine bright.

Our students develop a solid understanding of musical literacy, skills and techniques but this is not where their education ends. At AIS, we respect and teach the music from all over the world, helping students to place each piece within its broader cultural and historical context. Armed with this knowledge, our students can begin to express their own musical ideas and find a creative voice which is informed, skilful and uniquely their own.

Through listening, performing, and composing, AIS students develop aesthetic appreciation, emotional growth, self-discipline, communication, and creative skills. And they have a lot of fun too!

Drama

Drama is a central element of our performing arts programme. AIS students are encouraged to practise and develop abilities that will aid them in their academic and professional lives, while learning about and using a variety of performance styles across different times and cultures. By creating and presenting drama, students develop their confidence, public speaking, problem-solving skills, creativity, expression, and teamwork.

Dance

Dance at AIS Saigon offers students a unique way to explore creativity through movement. With access to a brand-new dance studio, students develop both physical and emotional resilience as they express themselves through choreography and performance. Dance teaches discipline and teamwork while encouraging students to be themselves and embrace their individuality. Through regular performances, students belong to a community of dancers who inspire one another, helping them become confident and disciplined individuals.
