AIS Hosts First ASAC Music Festival

AIS has hosted the first-ever music festival between eight international schools.

At the start of December, the Australian International School (AIS) had the honour and pleasure of hosting the first-ever ASEAN Sports and Activities Conference (ASAC) Music Festival.

The music team across Primary and Secondary worked hard to bring eight schools across four different countries together for a first-of-its-kind virtual concert. There were many fantastic performances from across the schools: AIS was represented by the talented violinist Venice Koo (Year 13) and the Primary School’s Glee Club, headed by Ms Suzette.

The highlight of the concert was a virtual choir consisting of about 40 students from across all eight schools singing together, in an uplifting and touching rendition of “Rise Up” by Andra Day. This was a fantastic project to work on and really exciting for the students to be part of something that travelled between countries. One of the highlights for me was the students from AIS explaining why they enjoy performing and making music. It makes it all worth it when you hear just how much music means to the students. I was totally blown away by the amazing talent from all the schools and proud of our students at AIS who rose to the challenge of putting their performances together in a short amount of time. They have once again exceeded all my expectations! Colin Burstow, Director of Music.
