At our Kindergarten campuses we have been working hard to transform some of our spaces to provide opportunities for our young learners to explore and experience the natural environment as well as creating stimulating inside spaces. * Indoor and outdoor environments support all aspects of children’s learning and invite conversations between children and teachers.
* Outdoor learning spaces are a feature of Australian learning environments. They offer a vast array of possibilities not available indoors, for example growing fruits and vegetables, riding bikes, sand, and water play.
* These spaces invite open-ended interactions, spontaneity, risk-taking, exploration, discovery, and connection with nature. They foster an appreciation of the natural environment, develop environmental awareness, and provide a platform for ongoing environmental education.
