Realising a long-held dream to pursue her tertiary studies in Melbourne, Australia, the high-achieving 17-year-old has been offered places at three universities within the city – Monash University (one of the top universities in Australia), Deakin University and LaTrobe University. The University of Adelaide and Flinders University also made Samadhi offers.
"My dream university has always been Monash, so I was delighted when I was accepted to their multi-campus commerce programme and am looking forward to completing my tertiary studies in Melbourne," she explains. "I intend to study a Business and Commerce degree with plans to become an auditor in the future."
Samadhi places significant value on the IB curriculum, enjoying its structure and transparency.
"I've really enjoyed the IB Diploma," she confirms. "The IB curriculum is unique in the way it incorporates Theory of Knowledge (ToK) elements in all the different subjects and therefore pushes us to connect with the real world. It has helped me learn to view different situations through different lenses and understand different perspectives and approaches."
Samadhi has undoubtedly made the most of every opportunity during her six years at AIS – and she has loved every moment.
In addition to her academic achievements, she has been an active and enthusiastic member of both the student leadership team and the Inspired Student Steering Committee, which organised and hosted the first Inspired Global Student Leadership Conference.
Plus, she has participated in a wide range of co-curricular activities. The talented all-rounder has played for the volleyball, football and soccer teams, been involved in the dance squad and several school productions (both on stage and behind the scenes), joined the Model United Nations delegates and was co-leader of the Global Issues Network Environmental Awareness Group.
"My time at AIS has been the best! I am constantly reflecting on my experiences and what I've learned, and I am grateful for my friends and teachers. I love that the school feels like we are a part of a family. Everyone is friendly and approachable, especially the teachers, who are always willing to talk and help us with anything.
"I am also incredibly grateful for the different activities offered by the school. The support we get when we want to start something new and share it with the community (like when I launched a student newsletter or another group of students did when they began a Science Council) is incredible.
"It's so hard for me to pick a specific highlight; everything was wonderful! All the events, musicals, performances, competitions, camps, debates and conferences organised by the school were amazing!"
