Empowered Learning That Lasts
In a workshop at AIS Saigon, Mike Lambert, Global Education Director at Inspired Education Group, shared a powerful idea: Learning is a relatively permanent change in knowledge, skills, and understanding that happens through reinforced practice. Real learning is not short-term memorising. It is the transformation that lets students apply what they know in unfamiliar situations. With repetition, reflection, and meaningful use, the hesitant becomes fluent. The mechanical becomes purposeful.
Independent studies indicate why this matters. As routine and predictable work is automated, demand grows for distinctly human capabilities. Originality, active learning strategies, fluency of ideas, critical thinking, speaking and expression, and social perceptiveness. These strengths are built not only in lessons but through holistic experiences such as debating real issues, performing with a music ensemble, serving the community, going on trips and camps, and learning from visiting speakers who bring fresh perspectives. In these moments, students practise creativity, communication, and collaboration in the real world.
The AIS Advantage. Human Strengths, Practised Every Day
This future-ready approach is woven into school life through Inspired Education’s three pillars at AIS Saigon.
· Academic Excellence. Fostering rigorous thought and intellectual curiosity, led by experienced international teachers with deep subject expertise.
· Sports. Developing teamwork, resilience, and well-being.
· Creative and Performing Arts. Nurturing imagination, expression, and confidence.
These pillars translate into meaningful outcomes. For example, AIS Saigon is a member of the Association of Music in International Schools (AMIS), joining over 120 international schools worldwide. This year, a group of Year 5 and Year 6 Choir students will take part in their first AMIS Honour Choir Festival in Singapore in March. The programme also offers professional development for music teachers, strengthening classroom practice and performance opportunities for students. Or, AIS Saigon’s recent IGCSE results place the school in the Top 25% of schools globally for value-added progress. This recognises how far students grow from their individual starting points and reflects the quality of teaching, personalised learning, and
student commitment. Many AIS students are second-language learners who often sit first-language exams. In addition to our IGCSE success, AIS Saigon’s IB Diploma Programme outcomes also reflect strong academic progress. With an average score of 34.5 over the past two years, our students have consistently performed significantly above the IB world average. These achievements further highlight the strength of our teaching, pathways, and the academic growth our students make across their journey. They demonstrate perseverance, adaptability, and a strong commitment to learning
Using AI Carefully to Support Learning
AIS teachers focus on meaningful learning. Where appropriate, they make considered use of tools such as virtual reality (VR) and AI to keep learning dynamic and relevant, while keeping human skills at the core
In the classroom, AI is a supportive tool used in guided, age‑appropriate ways. Students may use it to summarise class notes, brainstorm initial ideas, clarify difficult concepts, seek general advice on structure, and get tips to improve their writing. Through guided, ethical use, they learn when AI can accelerate understanding and when human judgment, originality, and critical thinking matter more.
This approach helps students become AI‑literate in a balanced way - using technology with confidence and responsibility, while strengthening originality and critical thinking. As part of the Inspired Education Group, AIS applies clear safeguards and careful review before any new technology reaches the classroom. Technology should support teaching and learning, never replace the human relationships at the heart of education
Future Ready Pathways With Purpose
AIS Saigon’s academic pathways reflect a thoughtful balance between knowledge and human skills. The IGCSE programme blends the depth and rigour of Cambridge courses with a well-structured balance between breadth and specialisation. Students explore broadly, then focus on their strengths. This foundation supports success in the IB Diploma Programme and beyond. In addition, the NEASC-accredited High School Diploma can be pursued concurrently with the IB Diploma. Universities in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan, and many other countries widely recognise it. Together, these options provide flexibility for diverse learners and strengthen access to tertiary education worldwide.
At AIS Saigon, we believe the future will favour those who think deeply, adapt quickly, and keep learning throughout their lives. By combining academic excellence with sports and the arts, and by using technology responsibly, we build the human strengths students need to flourish in a fast‑changing world.
To explore how AIS Saigon is empowering students with the human skills AI cannot replicate, we warmly invite families to our upcoming Open Day.
