Nigel was born in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. He graduated in Law and Economics from the Australian National University in Canberra, and has lived and worked in Vietnam since 1993. Mr Russell managed the Ho Chi Minh City office of Allens Arthur Robinson (an Australian law firm) until 2011. He is a former President of the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam and a past member of the Advisory Board of the Loreto Vietnam Australia Programme. Nigel is married to Thuy (Co General Director), and they have 3 children.
After a long career in investment banking, Tim joined ACG Education as CFO in 2011 to lead the acquisition programme, which resulted in the creation of a wider education group. In his current role as Chief Investment Officer, Tim has responsibility for ACG’s government and regulatory relationships, university partnerships, M&A, property and leadership of various strategic growth projects.
Tim graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from Imperial College, London, before spending eight years working for PricewaterhouseCoopers in New Zealand and Europe. That was followed by 17 years of investment banking experience with a number of international banking organisations. Before joining ACG Education, Tim was based in Singapore where he headed up the Corporate Finance Business of ING Bank in South East Asia.
Tim is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Directors.
Clarence van der Wel was born, raised and educated in New Zealand. He graduated from Waikato University with a degree in Mathematics before beginning a career in teaching. He held various middle and senior management positions before joining the ACG Group as a School Principal in 1999. In 2010, Clarence was appointed to the Senior Executive of Academic Colleges Group and is currently the Chief Operating Officer. Since June 2012, Clarence has also been the General Director of ACG International School Vietnam initially and then after the Schools merged took up the role of General Director of Australian International School.
Thuy grew up in Hanoi within a literary and artistic family. After graduating from the Amsterdam School, she studied Russian Literature in the Ukraine and Economics in Poland. Thuy returned to Hanoi in 1994, studied English, and worked for a Japanese insurance company. She moved to HCMC in 1997 where she first worked for a Japanese property developer before joining a Swedish consumer packaging business. Thuy co-founded AIS with her husband, Nigel Russell (Chairman) in August 2006.
